What is an account designation?

Account designations are relevant to Company, Trust, and Superannuation Fund investment profile types. This is because shares cannot be registered directly in the name of a minor, deceased estate, unincorporated fund or trust (e.g. superannuation fund). In these cases, the holding may be registered in the name of a trustee with an account designation. Examples include: "Jones family A/C", "Smith Super Fund” or “John Andrews (minor)”.

If you are using an existing broker sponsored HIN and investment profile, please ensure the details you provide are exactly the same as those in a current CHESS Holding Statement.
